About Forest Camp
Discover the wonder and science of nature
About Us
Forest Camp by NatureBridge grew out of a need for our region's children to have authentic, nature-based summer camp programs. Forest Camp's national park location in Prince William Forest is the ultimate setting for outdoor exploration, hands-on learning and adventures on trail.
Forest Camp by NatureBridge is a proud partner of the National Park Service
About NatureBridge
NatureBridge is a nonprofit that connects over 30,000 students and 600 schools each year to the wonder and science of the natural world, igniting self-discovery and inspiring stewardship of our planet. We operate in Yosemite National Park and Golden Gate National Recreation Area in California, Olympic National Park in Washington, and Prince William Forest Park in Virginia.
As the largest education partner of the National Park Service, we are proud to support their mission to preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.
Staff
The magic of Forest Camp begins with our staff. Forest Camp staff consists of six administrative members and ten environmental science educators. We maintain a 1:10 camper to adult ratio at all times.
Our educators are highly trained, qualified, and passionate about connecting young people to the natural world. During the school year, they are outdoor educators, classroom teachers, research scientists, docents, and much more. Our educators are expert teachers and ground their teaching in the three interweaving strands of our programs: science; social and emotional learning; and equity, inclusion, and diversity. Every educator is also trained in wilderness first aid (which requires a minimum 16 hour certification course) and CPR.
Join our Forest Camp Team
At Forest Camp, we are committed to hiring staff who reflect the campers we serve. When campers see themselves in their educators, connections are more easily formed. They learn better. This has a lasting impact on young people, especially those who have had little, if any, access to the outdoors—they come to understand that these parks are theirs and they feel empowered to explore and protect them. This is why at Forest Camp, we put our efforts into recruiting and hiring a workforce that closes the gap separating students and educators.
Forest Camp Staff Positions
Forest Camp is actively hiring for our 2025 season. If you are interested in working for Forest Camp in a future summer, keep in mind that we typically open applications in October-November. Below is the general description of the position we hire for.
Environmental Science Educator: This position is best suited for people who have teaching experience and/or experience leading groups outside in environmental education or adventure recreation.

Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity at Forest Camp
Everyone has the right to explore and play in the outdoors; experience joy and connections; and discover their public lands, but not all young people have the opportunity. At NatureBridge, we work to increase access to our parks, and we strive to create an experience that is inclusive and culturally relevant to all participants. That’s why equity, inclusion, and diversity is one of the three main strands, along with science and social and emotional learning that is woven into all of our programs.
